Education and Training

Essential criteria

• Graduate Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
• Registered with Health Professions Council
• Evidence of relevant in depth postgraduate study or qualification at a level equivalent to a Masters where it exists e.g. Bobath Course

Desirable criteria

• Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential criteria

• Minimum 4 years post graduate experience including 2 years in neurology
• Experience of developing others through CPD / PDP/ clinical supervision
• Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and/or multi-disciplinary team

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• In depth knowledge of community neurology
• To be competent in handling the mental, emotional and psycho-social aspects of working in Community Neurology
• To be familiar with relevant legislation relating to the care of clients with neurological conditions.

Skills

Essential criteria

• Ability to teach specific physiotherapy treatment packages to patients / carers / others
• Ability to facilitate learning in others
• Drive and enthusiasm for clinical excellence using EBP and clinical networks
• Able to manage own time and caseload independently
• Competent computer skills e.g. word, excel
• Excellent written and spoken communication

• To demonstrate use of initiative
• Highly motivated
• Flexible and able to cope with change
• Sensitive to the needs of others
• Able to work harmoniously with a diverse workforce and to deliver a quality service to people from different backgrounds, by including and embracing their varied needs.

• To be a confident cyclist or have a full driving licence and car/ or other appropriate transport
