Job Description
You will be as a senior clinical role model to the nursing team, leading and supporting growth, development and extended roles for the nursing and Operating Department Practitioner teams to allow collaborative working across the service for the delivery of excellent quality and safe patient care. You will represent the Trust at local, regional and national forums relating to care and strategy. Supporting the research agenda, pioneering and expansion of new technologies. You will provide senior nursing leadership to staff ensuring support and systems are in place to measure and monitor the safety, reliability and quality of care. You will translate the nursing strategy in to service objectives for teams being clear about the desired outcomes, holding others to account for delivery. You will contribute to the development and running of services by using evidence and data in relation to current performance and the opportunities for improvement. you will ensure that the nursing and wider team work efficiently and effectively to maintain performance - through the delivery of key performance targets
You will ensure that all staff within your area of responsibility are able to measure and monitor the quality of care that is delivered to patients. You will lead the perioperative services areas in the delivery of balanced budgets and identify areas for cost improvement and income generation
Employ strategies to manage conflict and differences of opinion being sensitive to the ethnically diverse population both patients and staff championing a psychologically safe work environment.

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- First level registered nurse (RN/RN child)
- Evidence of broad clinical experience relevant to the post
- Is intellectually flexible and able to look beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery and partnership
- Demonstrates a commitment to improving patient services through an ability to sustain clear performance focus on achieving demanding goals
- Proven track record of operational service management in acute hospital environment using relevant SI method

- Masters level qualification/equivalence
- Leadership qualification
Skills
Essential criteria
- Excellent time management and organisational skills demonstrated
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills using a wide range on communication channels
- Experienced in the use of skills in mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution effectively
- Has the ability to translate and integrate evidence based research/guidelines into the development of local pathways of care
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills in contexts that are unfamiliar, complex and unpredictable
- Ability to think strategically and prioritise as part of a team
- Has the aptitude to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively, and to prioritise work programs in the face of competing demands

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in 8a leadership role or equivalent
- Experience in leading change within the nursing profession and across multi-professional working
- Proven ability to analyse complex problems and to develop and successfully implement practical and workable solutions
- Experienced in leading clinical teams
- Experienced in initiating development in clinical practice
- Experience of MDT working both internal and external to the organisation
- Experienced in managing large groups of staff including HR management.
- Experienced in effectively managing clinical governance
Desirable criteria
- Experience of representing the profession / organisation at national level.
- MDT teaching and education at a senior level
- Experience of managing conflict in large teams
