Hours: 37.5hrs pw

About the role :
The post holder will work autonomously as the Clinical Nurse Specialist for the skin cancer, melanoma and complex dermatology conditions at the London HCA healthcare hospitals . The role includes managing a caseload of patients diagnosed with and having treatment for these specialities. The role will include collaboration and liaison with Consultant medical staff, ward/departmental staff, and other CNSs across the hospitals , to provide seamless evidence based holistic pathway of care for all patients referred into the service.
The post holder will be involved in Macmillan CNS service development and support of annual reviews and service outcomes. Coordination of patient care, Holistic needs assessments and supporting the inpatient and outpatients within their speciality. The role requires experience in Medical Oncology, Clinical oncology and surgery with knowledge and skills in wound care and plastics an advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Work within The HCA team of clinical nurse specialists to provide expert clinical advice to the healthcare team taking into account all aspects of Clinical Governance.
- Promote and develop the use of evidence based practice to improve the outcomes of patient care by enabling people to access, identify, appraise and interpret information to meet their needs
- Provide specialist advice, guidance and support at an advanced level of knowledge to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Be an educational resource and participate in the continuing education of the multi-professional health care team in all aspects of their specific specialities.
- Participate in and initiate clinical audit undertaken in relation to specific needs and the ongoing service development.
- Expand and develop existing and new networks to ensure the dissemination of best practice across HCA , and nationally for patients with oncology needs
- NMC registered Nurse
- The role requires experience in both Medical Oncology, Clinical oncology & Surgical.
- knowledge and skills in wound care and plastics an advantage
- Post Registration Qualification relevant to the role.
- Experience of working within the Clinical Nurse Specialist role or similar senior level
- Master's degree or working towards-Desirable
- Knowledge of relevant national cancer policies and procedures
- Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills
