Job Description

Main duties of the job
Delivery of service in a multi-agency environment and in the context and of the new Social Communication Assessment pathway in South Manchester.
To take a lead in providing specialist autism assessments of children and adolescents referred to the service based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including developmental history, school observation, occupational therapy assessments, self report measures, direct and indirect observation and interviews with young people, family members and/or carers.
To provide standardised autism assessments including the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule) - training can be provided.
To provide training on issues related to occupational therapy to the wider SCP as required
To contribute a specialist perspective to case planning and multi-agency case conferences and reviews and call multi-professional meetings when appropriate.
To communicate highly complex condition-related or contentious or sensitive information where there may be significant barriers to acceptance and to manage ensuing difficult interpersonal situations in the interests of the patient's welfare.
To deliver post diagnostic intervention in line with pathway protocol having received the training to do so
To complete occupational therapy assessments as needed for the children being supported on the SCP pathway and be the lead occupational therapist in their area of the city for this population.
