Experience

Essential criteria

• • Minimum of three years post registration experience including experience as a senior staff nurse
• • 12 months within the speciality
• • Chemotherapy competent

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

• • RN with NMC registration
• • Awareness of professional responsibilities.
• • Knowledge of current nursing issues.
• • Specialist post registration
• • Oncology course e.g., ENB 237 or Oncology /Haematology/ Palliative/Chemotherapy course module or degree or diploma in relevant speciality.
• • Cannulation and venepuncture skills.
• • Mentorship

Desirable criteria

• • Working towards/ has a degree.

Skills

Essential criteria

• • Ability to prioritise work and to co-ordinate the ward or department.
• • Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care needs according to individual needs.
• • Demonstrates an understanding of the application of leadership skills.
• • Have good verbal and written communication abilities.

Desirable criteria

• Computer literate.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• • Demonstrate knowledge of the application of evidence based practice
• • Demonstrate an understanding of the assessment process for student nurses.
• • Has knowledge of performance review.

Desirable criteria

• Education Qualification.
• Evidence of audit or research project.
