Chemotherapy Nurse | Oncology | Band 5/6 depending on experience | Southampton | Full Time

Spire Southampton Hospital has some exciting opportunities for a full time Chemotherapy Nurses to join our experienced and dynamic team. This Small team and small unit, providing delivery of systemic anti-cancer (SACT) treatment to our patients. Working closely with Consultant Oncologists and the oncology MDT. The unit accommodates 6 patients at any one time so you will be able to provide personalised holistic care to our patient.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Patient assessment
• Organi s ation of certain parts of the cancer journey
• Cannulation and delivery of chemotherapy
• Patient/relative/carer support, education and delivery of information
• Supporting outpatient oncology clinics where bad news may be delivered
• Working as a part of team to promote the survivorship initiative
• Working with external organisations required to ensure the best outcomes for patients
• Referral of patients to other services
• Working with the oncologists in clinic to manage patients

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will have worked within an oncology setting for at least 2 years and must hold a SACT passport and be able to evidence CPD. Must be familiar with UKONs and its guidance.

Part of this role will be to not only deliver the SACT in a caring and compassionate environment but also support these patients if admitted to the ward and supporting the ward nurses with any specific oncology requirements.

There is opportunity to develop the service and work alongside the Oncology Lead to develop skills.

Being on-call will be part of this role which is on a rotational basis and enhancements of pay included for this part of the role.
