Spire Fylde Coast is recruiting a pharmacy dispenser to join the team on a part time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to gain experience in a hospital setting, develop new skills and progress their career in a supportive friendly environment.

Spire Fylde Coast Hospital is based in the seaside town of Blackpool. We have 3 operating theatres undertaking a wide range of procedures in Orthopaedics, ENT, Spines, Ophthalmic, Urology, Vascular, Gynaecology, Endoscopy, Plastics and General Surgery.

Duties and responsibilities -

• Receive medicines and check against the order correctly identifying any errors, taking the appropriate action.
• Accurately dispense medicines for patients according to their prescription, ensuring each is checked by a pharmacist.
• Ensure medicines are stored correctly according to the manufacturer recommendations. Assist with the control and monitoring of medicines stored in the pharmacy. Ensure stock rotation and the identification of short dated and expired medicines.
• Maintain records of the purchase, storage and supply of medicines in compliance with legal and professional requirements and in accordance with Spire Healthcare policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively to ensure others can carry out their work efficiently.
• The post holder will be based within a pharmacy department; activities will necessitate regular presence and interaction in other departments and areas of the hospital.

Who we're looking for -

• Customer facing experience • Pharmaceutical experience
• Scottish/National Vocational Qualification (S/NVQ) Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (Desirable)
• Administrative role involving checking and monitoring.
