Job Description

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Digital Learning Development Manager is a senior role within the Apollo Training team focused on implementing the digital learning element of the Apollo Training Strategy.

You will be designing and delivering high-quality, customer-focused digital learning content with particular emphasis on projects that use blended learning approaches and digital learning resources. You will be working with partners across the organisation to design solutions that benefit individuals, teams, the organisation, and patients and carers. You will also line manage a number of credentialed trainers within the Apollo team.

You will also be working with the wider training and education community to promote blended and digital learning approaches and to build digital learning capability and awareness within the Apollo training network.

The Digital Learning Development Manager will be an advocate for digital learning in the Apollo Programme and will need a good understanding of the organisation’s strategic objectives, and be able to contribute to the Apollo Training Strategy, Workforce Strategy and to the Education, Training and Development Strategy.

You will be responsible for maintaining the Apollo Learning Management System (LMS) and the content and processes to ensure training material is up to date and accessible to users.

You will be working with the Education Training and Development Manager and the Apollo Training Management Team to leverage existing learning platforms to make best use of blended and digital learning approaches.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent skills or experience
  • Evidence of continuing learning/development


Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience in project managing digital or blended learning projects in a large and complex organisation
  • Experience in instructional design and digital learning development
  • Experience in promoting and leading change in a large and complex organisation
  • Experience in collaborating with a range of senior stakeholders
  • Facilitating meetings and gathering information from a variety of sources


Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
  • Highly developed instructional design skills, based on creativity and sound learning needs analysis
  • Strong Project Management skills and full project life cycle management
  • Comprehensive understanding of web technology and learning technology in particular
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain issues clearly and facilitate discussion
  • Comprehensive understanding of adult learning theory and different types of learning interventions
  • Evidence of very strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Evidence of the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across functions
