Band 5 Salary - Plus £2600 (RRP + New Hire Bonus) and Unsocial Hours Enhancements

The Brookfield Centre is a Rehabilitation and Recovery Centre for up to 13 adult males. It provides a specialist service for patients who have an identified learning disability, mental health needs and where there is either a history or risk of offending behaviour.

Main duties of the job

The role is a key member of the multidisciplinary care team and will have continuing responsibility to:

• Carry out comprehensive nursing assessments and to be responsible for producing individualised nursing care plans for named patients.
• Co-ordinate and implement the nursing care plan for individual patients and to inform the multi-disciplinary team of progress in the treatment process.
• Provide leadership to the healthcare worker using supervision and IPR and to work under the guidance and management of the Clinical Manager.

Ideal candidate for the role will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) with Strong interpersonal skills and good communication both verbal and written. You will be committed to working with people with severe mental health problems in a secure environment.

Your knowledge of forensic services and full driving licence are desirable.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To act as a Practice Assessor.
• To adhere to the NMC registration and revalidation requirements.
• To adhere to the most current NMC Code of Conduct at all times.
• To support the implementation of current and future Nursing Strategy.
• To adhere to KMPTs policies, procedures and guidelines.
• To support and behave in a way that upholds KMPT Trust values.
• To assess, act on and report any safeguarding concerns.
• To practise safely by being aware of the correct use, limitations and hazards of common interventions, including nursing activities and treatments.
• To report any concerns promptly through the appropriate channels and modify care when necessary to maintain safety, acting to keep patients and others safe.
• To provide educational support to optimise health and wellbeing; promoting self-care where possible, helping people to make choices about their needs and involve their carers where appropriate.
• To safely manage, administer medications and monitor their effects.
• To supervise a range of other staff and their activities as delegated.
• To carry out specific duties relevant to the setting e.g. nurse in charge, medicines clinic management, etc.

We also welcome applications from nurses who are interested to return to Mental Health Nursing. You will commence the role on the band 3 pay scale while we provide you with full 6 months training programme. On successful completion your training you will be promoted to band 5 as a fully qualified nurse. Please state Return to Nursing within your application under Professional qualifications. The new Hire Bonus will not apply to Return to Nursing applications.
