Job Description

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main duties:
\uf0b7 Provides highly specialist communication assessment of clients with highly complex conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and
integration of data from a variety of sources.
\uf0b7 Formulates plans for highly specialist intervention relating to any identified communication difficulties supporting the overall wellbeing and risk.
\uf0b7 To provide specialist advice, supervision, case discussion & formulation to
staff supporting young people who are edge of care or within looked after
services.
\uf0b7 To work closely with staff teams around young people facilitating positive
communication skills and environments
\uf0b7 To support robust risk assessment and management offering specialist plans of communication and intervention.
\uf0b7 Making autonomous clinical decisions about own professional practice.
\uf0b7 To ensure the clinical effectiveness of own practice and of service functioning by undertaking research and development activities relevant to the service area..
\uf0b7 Work with autonomous professional judgement, together with other
multidisciplinary professionals, to offer assessments, formulations and treatment recommendations that consider the individual and their context.
\uf0b7 Proactively contribute to the achievement of positive clinical outcomes. This will include leading/conducting evaluations using clinical outcome measures and satisfaction surveys.
\uf0b7 Act as a mentor to students, support newly qualified staff.
\uf0b7 Use IT systems effectively.
\uf0b7 Maintain accurate, up to date clinical records in accordance with Trust policy.
\uf0b7 Delegate tasks to staff within their competency and ensure that the
delegation/escalation process forms part of the culture of the service.

4. Working as part of a Team
\uf0b7 Effectively communicate with other disciplines/agencies/patients and carers.
\uf0b7 Provide support and leadership to B Positive Pathways Teams.
\uf0b7 Maintain professional relationships with all colleagues to ensure professional standards are met.
\uf0b7 Participate in the appraisal process..

5. Managing Self
\uf0b7 Participate in regular management and clinical supervision.
\uf0b7 Seek advice and support from Team/Clinical Lead
\uf0b7 Participate in appraisal annually, developing and agreeing your development plan with your line manager using the Trust appraisal and KSF process.
\uf0b7 Responsible for identifying areas for own professional development.
\uf0b7 Keep up to date with latest clinical developments, NICE guidance and research evidence.
\uf0b7 Attend all mandatory training.
\uf0b7 Maintain registration as a qualified health professional.
\uf0b7 Maintain accreditation with relevant governing body.
\uf0b7 Carry out duties with due regard to the Trust's Equal Opportunity Policy.
\uf0b7 Comply with all Trust policies, procedures and protocols.
\uf0b7 Pay regard to materials and equipment.
\uf0b7 Maintain a professional appearance.

6. Staff Supervision and Support
\uf0b7 Monitor practice and development of therapists, as appropriate reporting to Team/Clinical Lead for service governance
\uf0b7 Assist in induction of staff.
\uf0b7 Participate in the training of therapists and other professionals.

The Covid-19 vaccination remains the best line of defence against Covid-19 to protect individuals, colleagues, patients, and communities, and the Trust encourages staff to take up the offer of being fully vaccinated. Please note all staff members who are working in healthcare premises, working with patients/service users and/or undertaking patient/service user visits will be required to take a twice weekly Lateral Flow Test, and to produce evidence of their negative test result on request.

Person specification

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • SLT with relevant degree
  • Membership of HCPC
  • vidence of successful completion/ongoing undertaking specialist short course/ training up to master's degree equivalent
  • Membership of relevant Clinical Excellence network


Desirable criteria
  • Leadership training.


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 2 Per Years' experience at specialist level
  • Relevant experience with transferable skills appropriate to the area of clinical expertise
  • Experience of developing and delivering training


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Neuro Developmental assessments such as ASC or ADHD
  • perience of working with staff in multidisciplin
