Job Description
You will have the opportunity to undertake direct one to one and group based therapeutic work with women experiencing a wide range of mental health problems, often relating to complex trauma or attachment difficulties.
You will also have opportunity for indirect working, offering supervision, consultation, and training to both colleagues within the MDT and the wider maternity system.
We are keen to recruit people who enjoy working in multi-disciplinary teams and who are creative, adaptable, and responsive to the needs of the service.

The post offers an incredibly supportive team working environment. You will receive clinical and professional supervision and link in with established psychologists working within the perinatal service who meet regularly for ongoing CPD, discussion of clinical and professional issues and invaluable peer support.
There is also opportunity for professional development within a supportive department, with additional training being actively encouraged.
You will observe, and abide by, all relevant professional codes of conduct and practice including those of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The post holder will be fully registered with the HCPC as a practitioner psychologist as a condition of employment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Working relationships
-Clients, family and carers: To communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner with clients who may have specific difficulties in understanding and/or communicating and who may be hostile, antagonistic or highly emotionally aroused.
-Multidisciplinary team colleagues: To work closely with colleagues in the multi-professional integrated mental health service on a day-to-day basis. Some flexibility may be required in contributing to general roles within the multi-disciplinary team at times as the service is being developed.
- Health & social care staff: To communicate with a wide range of health & social care staff in hospital and in community settings, in a highly skilled manner, sharing complex and sensitive information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under the service's care. To provide support & guidance in the application of psychological principles and techniques, and to foster reflective practice.
-Senior managers & professional staff: To maintain and build good working relationships with senior professional staff and managers across the Trust. To foster a positive approach to the mental health service and to enable effective negotiation.
Planning and organisation
-The psychology service: To plan and organise own work within the service (including managing own caseload) and to contribute to the development and improvement of the provision of psychological services within the service to best meet the organisation's strategy and priorities.
-The multidisciplinary service: To provide a full psychology service, including training, supervision and consultation for staff and to support the multi-professional planning, development and marketing of the Specialist Perinatal Service. To provide training, supervision and consultation to staff within the service and to other services and agencies.
Responsibility for judgement and analysis
-To provide specialist psychology /therapy expertise and advice. To provide complex assessment of specialist conditions.
