Person specification Educational & Qualifications Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent experience or training, plus further staff and project management knowledge to post graduate diploma level equivalent.
  • Certificate in Management Studies or equivalent

Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.


General Experience Essential criteria
  • Experience of managing and leading healthcare services within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of working within complex organisations.
  • Experience of managing change and developing practice.
  • Evidence of partnership working across organisational boundaries.
  • Problem solving.
  • Experience of staff management
  • Proven track record of achieving healthcare targets
  • Proven track record of partnership working to develop services
  • Proven track record of delivering challenging objectives to a deadline

Desirable criteria
  • Experience of managing budgets and advising budget holders of smaller delegated budgets
  • Experience of risk management.
  • Experience in developing business cases and leading projects through to completion and evaluation.
  • Experience of working in an acute environment.

  • Analytical skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to deal with conflict management and stressful/hostile situations.
  • Innovative and creative in producing future service developments.
  • Ability to manage HR issues.
  • Leadership skills - able to cope with a diverse teams located on multiple sites.
