Education, formal training, and qualifications
Essential criteria
- Graduate Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy
- Registered with Health Professions Council
- Evidence of CPD, in the form of
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate education completed or in
- Special interest group membership
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 1 year’s NHS experience (can include undergraduate experience)
- Minimum 2 years post registration experience
- Broad range of experience at band 5 level including a minimum of 4 months experience in each of: ICU, medical, surgery, neurology, outpatients and older people's rehabilitation
- Participation in night time on-call rota
- Participate in weekend working within the rehabilitation setting you are based in.
- Experience of working as part of a physiotherapy team and multidisciplinary team, including setting team goals
- Ability to form a sound prognosis and advise other members of the MDT
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience at Band 6 level
- Student supervision / clinical education
- Experience of the research process
- Teaching experience in in-service programmes
- Committee membership, e.g. health and safety
- Experience of clinical education of undergraduate students
Skills
Essential criteria
- Fluent in written and oral English, and able to present complex information in a clear and logical manner
- Good assessment skills based on a sound clinical reasoning approach including the assessment of symptom behaviour, history taking and gathering oh physical/objective testing and hypothesis formation
- Ability to work with multi/interdisciplinary team and set team goals
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
- To actively participate in staff training
- Ability to keep legible and accurate notes in english in the POMR system
- Computer literacy
- Presentation skills
- Able to carry out the moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities
- Ability to motivate self and others
- Ability to work autonomously
Desirable criteria
- Supervision of other staff, e.g physiotherapy assistant / Technical intructor

Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Remains updated with professional practice and new research
- Understand the legal responsibilities of the profession
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and the implications for physiotherapy services including experience of quality issues and audit
- Ability to comprehend and work within the Trust’s policies of data protection, equal opportunities and health and safety to meet the differing needs of the patients
