Scrub Practitioner with Ophthalmic Experience | Salary Band 6 | Cambridge Lea | Full Time 37.5 | Mon - Fri (rotational Saturdays)

Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Scrub Practitioner to join their friendly and supportive team. Day shifts available for this role with flexible rota and excellent development opportunities available to you

Duties and responsibilities

We are seeking someone who has extensive experience scrubbing patients within ophthalmic or has a key interest and willing to develop in this area. You will still be expected to scrub in other areas and not restricted to developing your skills.

Working as part of this friendly and supportive team you can expect to assist patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures including ENT, neurological, orthopaedic, laparoscopic, ophthalmic, gynaecology and urology.
  • You will be required to support the senior staff ensuring high standards of effective care are delivered to all patients within the Theatre suite, whilst maintaining communication within the team
  • You will also need to prepare an operating theatre for surgery in relation to instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for specific operative procedures, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum
  • You will be required to perform scrub duties
  • RN or ODP qualification
  • Must have experience of working as a perioperative practitioner in and across surgical team.
  • A key interest in ophthalmics

Who we're looking for
  • Proven experience in a secretarial role
  • An advanced level of experience in minute taking and minute's production.
  • A touch typing speed of 60wpm
  • Advanced working knowledge of Windows and relevant Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A good level of education to at least GCSE standard.
  • Experience in production and editing of larger papers and reports, rather than just correspondence.
  • Customer focus and excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident and professional telephone handling and written skills.
  • Share evidence based practices with colleagues to enhance service and standards
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work under pressure
