Job Description

Matron for Patient Experience and Healthcare Transition;

At Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, (RMCH), and the Managed Clinical Services, (MCS), we have the exciting opportunity of a corporate Matron role to Lead on Patient Experience and Healthcare Transition across the Divisions in Children's Services, (incorporating RMCH, Wythenshawe Starlight Unit, Trafford Children's Resource Centre and North Manchester General Hospital Children's Inpatients Ward, Koala Unit and Out-Patients Department).

The successful applicant will lead on the development and implementation of a Patient Experience Strategy, ensuring high standards of care and treatment are implemented and actions taken to achieve a continuous improvement. They will co-ordinate and support the Transition Programme of work in RMCH/MCS to ensure compliance with a Transition of Care for Young People Strategy.

The successful applicant will be able to provide strong clinical and professional leadership and line management to the clinical teams at RMCH/MCS.

You will be able to demonstrate within your application and at interview; effective leadership, setting, monitoring and maintaining standards, working collaboratively, managing complaints and leading the nursing contribution for clinical governance at a specialty/department level in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
  • First Level NMC Registration
  • Graduate - Health Related Studies
  • Teaching Qualification


Desirable criteria
  • Management / Leadership qualification
  • Relevant studies at level 7 / MSc
  • Qualified in speciality


Experience
Essential criteria
  • Evidence of working in a senior clinical role in the acute paediatric setting
  • Experience of successfully managing the implementation of change.
  • Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
  • Experienced in complaints management


Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
Essential criteria
  • Communication skills. Presentation skills. Report writing.
  • Negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Ability to make calm rational decisions in the face of adversity
  • Evidence of risk management activities
  • Able to demonstrate contribution of nursing role to clinical governance

We may decide to close this vacancy earlier than the published closing date if sufficient applications are received.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
