Job Description

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • You will have excellent communication, leadership, organizational and inter-personal skills and be able to work well within the multi-disciplinary team.
  • You should be a Registered Nurse with post registration experience in Dermatology.
  • You must be able to take part in structured teaching for patients, colleagues and students
  • To be responsible for maintaining and updating own clinical practice and knowledge, including professional portfolio.
  • Interactions with patients are non-judgmental and culturally sensitive
  • To actively maintains documentation in accordance with the NMCs Record Keeping Guidelines
  • Takes an active role in monitoring and ensuring standards of care at own base, developing awareness for clinical governance issues.
  • Participate in collection of data for audit and research as required

Qualification/Education
Essential criteria
  • RN1/RN2/RN12 Registered Nurse on the NMC
  • BSc/1st degree health related or equivalent qualification/ training and experience
  • Mentorship/Teaching qualification
  • Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in Dermatology
  • Post registration qualification in or demonsrate relevant experience and competence to area


Desirable criteria
  • Leadership qualification


Previous Experience
Essential criteria
  • Previous post registration experience within the relevant speciality
  • Experienced and competent in the management of patients within the speciality
  • Experience of teaching/assessing/supervising others in a clinical setting
  • Supervision of Junior staff
  • Experience of coordinating a shift


Desirable criteria
  • Patch Testing Experience or Knowledge


Skills/ Knowledge/Ability
Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates specialist expertise underpinned by theory acquired through CPD
  • Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues/ Knowledge of evidence based practice
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients/clients and give relevant advice/information to patients and relatives.
  • An understanding of resource management
  • Good communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive information include dealing with distressed patients and relatives

  • Microsoft word/Excel skills
