Job Description

We are excited to advertise for Trainee Screening Link Health Visitor. The post holder will support the citywide neonatal screening provision and service delivery. As a trainee you will learn the role and work closely with the Screening Link Health Visitor and staff nurse to develop your practice and gain required competence. You will be provided with training and regular professional updates on neonatal screening, gaining competence to support the wider Health Visiting workforce. The Screening Link Health Visitor role involves liaising and working in conjunction with neonatal screening laboratories and local specialist centres. This service liaises with GP, family Health Visitor (HV), Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre and all community midwifery services to ensure continuity of service and effective communication. As a trainee you will need excellent communication skills and readiness to learn. You will support the Screening Link HV in development, updates and dissemination of guidelines, policies and procedures for neonatal screening in line with evidence based practice and effective service provision.

This is a career development opportunity and on completion of competency there will be opportunity to develop into Band 7 Screening Link Health Visitor in the team. You will be a professional role model for the neonatal screening programme, undertaking regular audits of the service, feeding back results and facilitate service changes within Health Visiting as necessary, liaising with other neonatal screening leads across the North West to ensure evidence based practice.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
