Job Description

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Working with service users in their own homes to promote maximum independence whilst experiencing mental health crisis.
  • To contribute to the planning and implementation of induction, training and education of students and new staff.
  • To participate in the preceptorship programme during the first post registration year in the NHS
  • To contribute to the development of others supporting the supervision and evaluation of support staff and students. A willingness to undertake practice placement educators' course and participate in student education.
  • To assist the senior staff by identifying personal and professional training needs in order to appropriately plan for future training and development.
  • To provide effective supervision, support, and guidance for non-registered workers and any work delegated to them. To participate in planning of own clinical supervision.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria

  • A recognised professional qualification as a Registered Nurse (Mental Heal

ExperienceEssential criteria
  • Experience of acute mental health care and working with people with mental health conditions

Desirable criteria
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of individual & group work

Skills and KnowledgeEssential criteria
  • knowledge of current best practice in providing holistic interventions to people experiencing acute episode of mental ill health.
  • knowledge of and ability to apply relevant legislative frameworks and policies relating to care e.g. Mental Capacity Act, Safeguarding, Consent to Treatment.
  • A robust understanding and ability to apply principles of risk assessment and risk management.
  • Understanding of the impact of acute episode of mental illness on function and occupation of clients, family and carers.
  • Ability to communicate sensitive and emotional information using a variety of mediums; being able to adapt methods/style/approach as appropriate.
  • Car driver and owner
