Job Description

The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and the Acute Medical receiving Unit (AMRU)atWythenshawe Hospital are looking for highly motivated, innovative and experienced nurses to join our dynamic team.

AMU is a 56 bedded unit divided into two areas, Acute Medical and Short Stay Medical. AMRU is a seated unit with trolley assessment areas. Staff will be afforded the opportunity to rotate between both units.

You will be given dedicated time to learn and develop your own skills by working alongside our highly experienced Clinical Educator. This role is set up to offer a ward specific preceptorship and training program for all new starters and enables us to provide you with an excellent induction, support with re-validation and on going training package. Staff are also exposed to managing patients with a higher acuity within the unit, and as such we work closely with the Critical Care Outreach team and provide 8 cardiac telemetry beds across the unit for close monitoring.

If you have considered acute medical nursing we would welcome you to come and visit us, and we will spend time showing you around, introducing you to the team, and showing you what is involved in relation to care and assessment and pathways on our unit. Flexible working patterns can be discussed at interview.
