Looking for an alternative? New beginnings? An exciting opportunity has arisen for Open Dialogue Practitioners to facilitate the on going development of the Peer supported Open Dialogue service (POD) within KMPT, the only stand alone NHS Open Dialogue service in the UK.

We are looking to recruit on 2 full time Band 6 practitioners to join the Kent POD You need to be qualified as a CPN, OT or Social worker. Ideally you would have Foundation Level training in POD or willing to train starting in October .Your role will have care coordinator responsibilities alongside contributing to additional network meetings.

You will join a team of award winning, experienced POD practitioners and contribute to the teams continued global evolution and development. You will participate of the largest research project into POD , ODDESSI and create new connections with POD practitioners around the world.

Main duties of the job

You will be a Open Dialogue practitioner working within the POD team will manage people formally referred to crisis teams (CRHT) and/or community mental health teams (CMHT). The work will include a family/network framework for management of cases with individuals being subject to the Care Programme Approach (CPA).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide a psychologically consistent family and social network Open Dialogue approach in which the majority of decision-making is carried out via whole system network meetings involving the service user, together with his or her family/network.

To be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service user, family/network and service .

To contribute to the core skills, attitude and values of POD practitioners within the team.

Work in a needs adapted way, providing flexible permutations of care to each network depending on what emerges from the meetings.

Attend weekly POD clinical supervision utilising the principles of POD.

To ensure that knowledge relating to role responsibilities are concordant with KMPT Policies, protocols and procedures. You will take the role of Care Co Ordinator.

To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by KMPT within patient and other relevant records.

Ensure social care assessments are undertaken that met the social care eligibility standard as required under the Care Act 2014.

To ensure that all safeguarding (children and adults) cases follow the Kent and Medway multi agency protocol to ensure safe person centred care of vulnerable children and adults.

We would ask that successful candidates plan to stay with the service for 2 years post training or consider financially contributing towards the cost of the training if leaving before.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria
  • •A recognised professional qualification in mental health nursing/occupational therapy/social work.
  • •Registration with relevant regulatory body. Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)/ The health and Care Professional (HCPC)
  • •Mentor or Practice Educator
  • •Open Dialogue or Peer Supported Open Dialogue training at foundation or certificate level (1 yr) or willing to train

Desirable criteria
  • •Registered member of the professional body e.g. Royal College of Nursing (RCN), British Association of Occupational Therapy (BAOT), British Association of Social Workers (BASW)
  • •Accredited Practice Educator
