Job Description

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Head of Care to join our team at Gracewell of Church Crookham, Hampshire.  The Head of Care is responsible for the smooth running of the care department ensuring that through clinical governance and leadership the care, health and safety of all residents is effectively assessed, planned and implemented and evaluated
They will support with the assessment of new residents and the development of person-centred care planning, and through the undertaking of care reviews with the support of internal and external stakeholders ensure that the care provided to existing residents fully meets their needs and enriches their lives.
The Head of Care will liaise with the General Manager in undertaking quality audits to ensure that the community meets CQC regulatory standards, and any improvement areas are effectively prioritised, planned, communicated and implemented within the team. They will have a strong knowledge of safeguarding, deprivation of liberty and health and safety processes, including identifying possible risks to residents and the community and managing these with the relevant teams.
They will be an inspirational leader, able to identify and encourage talent through recruitment processes, training and internal development

What are we looking for?
The Head of Care will demonstrate excellent people management skills ensuring all relevant team members receive appropriate induction, training, supervisions and will manage the performance of team members with regular reviews and staff appraisals.
They will ensure the effective management of medication including ordering, storage and administration, and ensure that equipment is appropriately maintained and managed. The successful candidate will also have experience with undertaking quality audits to CQC standards, and using this information to prioritise improvement measures within the community.
With strong communication skills you will be instrumental in developing solid relationships with residents and family members to enhance the wellbeing of our residents in their home environment.    
  • 3 -5 years post registration experience in a health and social care setting with older people
  • Strong Clinician or Senior RGN (with current NMC pin) experience essential
  • Strong evidence of previous experience of leading a team
  • Evidence of good IT skills and confidence in computer based work
  • Evidence of good written and verbal skills for communication and understanding
  • Understanding the physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs of the older person
  • Understanding the importance of clinical governance and quality when caring for older people
  • Evidence of ongoing professional study in the field of older peoples care
Desired
  • A caring for the older person with dementia, or equivalent qualification
  • A ‘teaching in clinical practice’ or equivalent qualification
  • Level 5 apprenticeship in Health and Social Care
