Job Description

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS clearance and as a result, you will be required to pay the associated fee of £40.00. This fee will be deducted from your second month's salary.

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria
  • •Current and relevant registration on NMC Register •Evidence of Continuous Professional Development •Mentorship training

Desirable criteria
  • •Relevant postgraduate qualification •Recent attendance on a leadership development programme •Educated to degree level •Management training •Nurse prescribing/transcribing qualification


ExperienceEssential criteria
  • •Experience of managing a ward/unit • •Demonstrable understanding of managing change •Introduced evidence based practice

Desirable criteria
  • •Previous experience of ward management •Previous experience in relevant clinical speciality •Previous experience of working in a nurse led environment


KnowledgeEssential criteria
  • •Clinical practice and demonstrable knowledge of developments in nursing policy and practice •Good understanding of: -Clinical governance -Principles of lifelong learning -Workforce planning, recruitment and retention

Desirable criteria
  • •Previous experience of ward management


SkillsEssential criteria
  • •Ability to lead, motivate and empower others •Computer literacy •Ability to prioritise work, meet tight deadlines and work independently

Desirable criteria
  • •Writing and presentation skills •Budget management experience

  • The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of safe, kind, excellent.
