Job Description

6 month secondment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly motivated senior nurse to apply for a six month secondment to the post of Matron within our Paediatric Emergency department at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. You will be joining a cohesive and dedicated multiprofessional team who strive to deliver the highest standard of patient and family centred care. Treating over 49,000 children per year the Paediatric Emergency service provides emergency and specialist healthcare services to children across Greater Manchester and beyond in meeting the needs of our tertiary services here at RMCH. As a designated Major Trauma Centre for children we support the North West Trauma Service. To support the growing demands upon the department it is currently undergoing a new build which will provide exciting opportunities in our service development.

You should be a senior registered nurse with sound clinical and managerial experience and can demonstrate the desire and ability to provide strong and visible leadership and facilitate team learning. You will work alongside the Lead Nurse, Clinical Lead and Unit Director to lead and manage the nursing team developing and sustaining a positive team culture whilst ensuring quality of care, staff management and patient experience are key priorities. The successful candidate will be an individual who can drive forward the agenda for paediatric emergency medicine and can use their initiative to implement effective change. You will also have line management responsibility for the Band 7 clinical coordinator nursing team who provide senior nurse cover, coordinate patient flow and manage bed utilisation throughout RMCH.

You will have highly effective interpersonal, negotiation and decision-making skills, a sound knowledge and understanding of the challenges and opportunities a Paediatric Emergency Service can present and be committed to the provision of the highest standards of evidence-based care to our patients and families.

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £26.85(standard disclosure) or £43.85 (enhanced disclosure) which will be deducted from salary, in the first 3 months of employment. If you wish to withdraw once a DBS application has commenced you will be still liable for payment.
