Job Description

Mental Health Practitioner

Hampshire, Southampton

Plus, brilliant benefits!

Brilliant outcomes through integrated health, housing and care. That’s when it hits home.

This is your chance to be part of something brilliant at Home Group, where clinical interventions work hand in hand with daily support. You’ll be joining us on our exciting journey to become market leaders in New Models of Care by 2021. We’re trailblazing the way in delivering brilliant long-term outcomes for vulnerable people through integrating health, housing and care.

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome (and growing) team. We provide a supported housing service for 18-55-year-old adults who experience severe and enduring mental health challenges. Our service will also support people with additional dual diagnosis for example substance/alcohol use issues and autism spectrum condition. Through a recovery approach our key aim is to support individuals to manage their mental health whilst remaining independent and improving their quality of life.

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupation Therapist (recognised by the relevant professional governing body) you’ll be developing and coaching our Support Workers to ensure that high quality individualised care is delivered which ensures safety, recovery, wellbeing and maximises customers’ ability to live independently and feel enabled.

As an experienced professional, you’ll lead practice development, developing and delivering specialist training packages to our colleagues, embedding core competencies as well as oversight of clinical or professional supervision. You’ll also be the point of contact for individual support and coaching of the Managers in our services. You’ll be really enhancing colleagues’ knowledge and skills, promoting regular, honest and supportive feedback.

What’s even more brilliant, you’ll be able to really make your mark (there’s no red tape or mounds of paperwork here!). You’ll be shaping our services, developing essential standards and quality outcomes. With customer care at the forefront of everything we do, you will inspire others and advocate a philosophy of care that is person centred, maintains dignity, independence and ensures it is right for that person at that time.

You’ll enable us to maintain high standards of support and intervention to contribute to achieving the Care Quality Commission Essential Standards.

About our team

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about the service we provide. Our team describe themselves as really friendly and approachable. In fact, when new members have joined us, it’s been said that they felt welcomed from day one! You really want to join a team that is as fab, and team spirited as ours!

We’re also super passionate about supporting customers and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our manager is Paula she has been with Home Group for 17 years starting as a Support Coordinator with progression and coaching into a Registered Managers role. There are 10 of us in the team and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!

To be successful in our roles we need plenty of cake! We enjoy celebrating with our special vintage afternoon creams teas, Lianne loves to bake, and Paula enjoys showcasing her tea sets. Tina has introduced us to Earl Grey, and Lisa is a connoisseur of strawberries and jam, as a team we all encourage and inspire each other to enhance all our creative ideas! Nimo (as our diversity champion) has educated our service on what it’s like to celebrate Ramadan! Jo is passionate about taking care of our fish, and Luke knows all the best places in Southampton to have fun as a team!

Working hours

It’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your working day or use your flexi to take the time off. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!

About you

You’ll already be a professional working with people, whether that’s as an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Registered Mental Health Nurse, it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success.
