Job Description

Main duties of the job

Mental health assessments

Crisis response

ACCT reviews

Administration of medications including controlled drugs

Case management, inclusive of those on CPA

Liaison with community services/ discharge planning

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Completing both routine and urgent mental health and/ or substance misuse assessments for those referred into the service.

Case management of a number of prisoners, providing 1-1 interventions as required. Some of these men may be subject to CPA.

Administration of medication, inclusive of controlled drugs.

Working with men to formulate care/ recovery plans, and formulating risk assessments.

Crisis management- this is supported by the wider health and prison team.

Transfers to mental health hospitals under the Mental Health Act

Release planning/ co-ordination with community services.

Liaison/ joint working with professionals from a variety of disciplines, such as prison officers, CMHTs, CDTs etc.

Essential criteria
  • Qualified RMN/ Nurse associate


Desirable criteria
  • Additional qualification in a relevant field


Experience
Essential criteria
  • working in a clinical setting with those with MH problems


Desirable criteria
  • experience in substance misuse field
