Job Description

NSCG are working in partnership with global Private Healthcare provider in the recruitment of the position of Lead Outpatient Nurse.

They are a private healthcare provider whose purpose is to create care experiences that get the best possible life outcomes for their patients. They believe care should be focused on the individual, not the condition and that care should be available when and where people need it most.

Across the world they have more than 440 centres, in the UK this includes 14 centres offering radiation therapy.

The Role

As the Lead Outpatients Nurse, you would be responsible for the provision of high-quality evidence-based nursing care in a clinic setting with a focus upon the implementation of smooth and efficient outpatient and diagnostic clinics. In addition to the clinical aspects of the service, the role holder will also assist in, the areas of finance, equipment, IT and consultant liaison as required.

Key areas for the role:

? Be a clinical expert and lead by example, acting as a role model at all times and adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct

? Lead the outpatient department providing day-to-day management of the department ensuring that all staff who work within the service have the competence, training and skill set to adequately carry out the roles required of them and highlight training gaps and needs

? Lead on the rostering of staff to ensure clinics are run and staffed sufficiently in order to deliver maximum quality and efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

? Coordination with administrative colleagues in order to ensure that all pathways are sensitive to their requirements, achieved through proactively seek their involvement and contribution.

? Ownership of the outpatient services to ensure a positive experience for all patients and consultants

? Provide a suitable and safe environment for the physical, spiritual, and psychological well-being of staff/patients/visitors/family and offer support and advice where necessary and signposting to external agencies where required

? Be involved and lead when required, the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and work instructions (WI) for all outpatient and diagnostic processes/pathways.

? Be financially aware and proficient in the necessary aspects of the patient pathway such as code capturing, stock management and medication recording

? Ensure good relationships with consultants to instil confidence in the Outpatients service

? Maintain equipment in line with manufacturer’s instruction and ensure protocols are in place for the on-going maintenance and electrical safety of all equipment; maintain and implement all relevant documentation to support this process

? Ensure all Health & Safety, work environment and infection control checks are carried out as per the Care policy

? Induct all new nursing staff and medical staff to the outpatient clinic and undertake the necessary induction process including all relevant training of local systems

? Assist the consultants during consultations and be clinical competent to assist with minor operations and diagnostic procedures

? Be proficient in all required nursing procedures for an outpatient centre including venepuncture, dressings, minor procedures etc

? Be trained to Intermediate Life Support (ILS) level and undertake all necessary safety audits and checks required in relation to resuscitation

? Work with junior staff to identify knowledge gaps and ensure staff are appropriately educated

? Participate in the annual appraisal process both individually and with other junior staff members

? Support the development of nursing practice within the team

The Person

In order to be considered for this role you will have;

? Registered Nurse with NMC registration

? Relevant post registration programme qualification

? Previous experience of working within an outpatient setting

? Experience of assisting with minor procedures

? Venepuncture & cannulation skills

? Flexible approach to working and ability to cover clinics according to consultant availability, which can involve evening clinics
