Job Description

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake risk assessments, devise written plans of care, liaise with and refer to, any appropriate individual, agency or service that can meet the patient's needs.

Contribute to the organization of multi professional, patient centred care.

Enable patients to take an active role in care given.

Undertake comprehensive health care needs assessment of patients, reassessing as appropriate.

Administer medication in line with NMC guidelines.

Respond to emergency calls, assess patients' condition in an emergency situation and provide appropriate care and referral.

Deliver effective, safe and high standards of care that it is within clinical competences.

Adhere to all security regulations within the prison.

Essential criteria
  • RGN Experience of working with patients with Long term conditions such as Diabetes, Epilepsy, or Asthma
  • Ability to deliver direct patient care without direct supervision


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a secure setting/ prison

  • It is essential that the post holder must be willing to undertake regular DBS checks, and prison vetting to undertake the role
