Job Description

Main duties of the job

The role of the Nurse Associate is to work with the multi professional team and the Registered Nurses to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical mental health and substance misuse care in line with the service pathways and as agreed with supervising clinician(s).

As a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, the post holder will be responsible for supporting service users with mental health and clinical substance misuse issues and planning care in collaboration with the service users. It will involve managing a caseload of service users/patients within HMP Garth as well as other aspects of mental health and substance misuse care. The post holder is required to work with service users from a holistic perspective, considering both substance misuse and mental health needs.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical sessions to meet the needs of the service users/patients group.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As a member of the mental health and substance misuse team you will work as part of a MDT to support offenders with a range of mental health and clinical substance misuse issues. You will support them during their time at HMP Garth and make any relevant referrals as necessary. You will also work alongside multiple prison agencies to support offenders with their needs.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical sessions to meet the needs of the service users/patients group.

The post holder will pro-actively contribute to service and practice developments initiatives within the Directorate Business Plan which reflects local and national developments.

The Nurse Associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan, providing holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The Nursing Associate role is the bridge between Health Care Support Workers and Registered Nurses they will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within all aspects of the clinical process.
