Job Description

Main duties of the job

The successful applicants will assist in the overall delivery of care to patients within the Primary Care department of Barton Moss Secure children's services. You will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care. The post holder will at all times comply with the NMC Code of Conduct, relevant legislation policies and procedures.

The post holder will be required to work 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday, but flexible working may be required to meet service need.

There may be an expectation that the post holder will participate in out of hour's management on call rotas in providing management cover for evenings, weekends and statutory holidays.

This will also include some occasional cover for Marydale Lodge SCC as part of the joint healthcare contract.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Supervision of junior members of the multi-disciplinary members of the team including students and support staff.

Demonstrate an awareness of Trust and policies, procedures and protocols, including an awareness of policies in use from both residential services.

Demonstrate efficient use of resources

Utilize management skills to take charge of the unit/team as required

Participate in effective multi-disciplinary teamwork, including prison staff

Report immediately any complaints, incidents and other untoward occurrences

Participate in the clinical review of major incidents as appropriate.

Undertake overall responsibility for the management of all physical health conditions and carry a patient caseload where required including the following elements:

o Referral management

o Clinical record keeping

o Clinical risk assessment and management

o Documentation standards

o Onward referral pathways

o Supervision for team members

o Team development

o Quality assurance and improvement

Line manage the other more junior RGN's/ Transitional workers within the healthcare service

Ensure team compliance with relevant Trust, professional and local authority policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines

Chair multidisciplinary clinical and business meetings, case planning meetings and reviews, including adult safeguarding strategy meetings and Best Interest Meetings.

Participation in the health and justice on-call management rotas as required.

Act up for the Primary Care Manager as required.

To lead on Team Management Reviews and Clinical Incident Reviews and take responsibility for recommendations arising.

The post holder will be expected to support the overarching model of Secure Stairs, and support the residential staff in helping to understand the needs of the young people in a trauma informed way.

We consider this post to be a fully integrated position for the post holder to work closely with all members of the health care and residential team on a regular basis.

Undertake responsibility for monitoring and control of operational budgets for the service, ensuring compliance with GMMH Standing Financial Instructions.

Support the Senior Manager in the strategic management of budgets within health and justice services.

Optimise the effective management of resources to support service delivery.
