Job Description



KMPT is offering current staff the opportunity to apply for a Registered Nurse Apprenticeship course.

This is a 4 year Degree Apprenticeship with KMPT in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University and Greenwich University. During the course Apprentices will be paid at Band 3.

On successful completion of the Apprenticeship you will become a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and will transition into a Band 5 RMN post.

During the apprenticeship you will work primarily in a part time Band 3 position with a base service or team. You will also attend university 1 to 2 days a week and will be expected to complete academic study and evidence learning via the university. You will be given some protected learning time to support your studies.

As an Apprentice Registered Nurse you will complete blocks of placements outside of your base team. These will enable you to gain work experience with different age groups and in a variety of settings. (You may be asked to travel outside of your local area to attend these placements and to work within the shift pattern of that service). You will need to successfully complete Practice Assessment Documents during your placements to evidence your knowledge, competency and professional values.

Please note: There is no guarantee that the apprenticeships offered will be in your current role or base and it is possible that your base may change at some point during the 4 years.

Both university and apprenticeship eligibility criteria will need to be met and there will be an assessment and interview process.

You are required to have and provide evidence;
  • Minimum of a level 3 qualification - e.g. A levels / Access to HE Diploma / BTEC /NVQ3, apprenticeship level 3
  • Proof of English and Maths GCSE (grade C or above) or functional skills level 2 numeracy and literacy on application.
  • Essential induction training and experience - care certificate or equivalent
  • Previous experience of working within a health / care setting (6 months)

KMPT Interviews will be taking place on 21 & 24 May 2021.

University Interviews will be taking place on 10 June 2021.

The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT's subject specialists and will include the essential training required.
