Job Description

Person specificationQualificationsEssential criteria
  • Psychology degree
  • Postgraduate Certificate qualification in Psychology or working towards its completion
  • Professional Registration e.g. NMC, HCPC or BPS

ExperienceEssential criteria
  • You will have experience at working with symptoms of trauma such as anxiety and depression and you will have the drive and flexibility to contribute to a new and developing service.
  • You will have experience at working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and ideally across systems.
  • You will have experience at providing consultation and support to health and or social services colleagues.

SkillsEssential criteria
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills adaptable to a wide range of people including client, carers, general public and professionals
  • Sufficient emotional resources to cope with a high volume of patient referrals and the nature of very brief therapeutic work within a short time-frame

KnowledgeEssential criteria
  • Awareness of potential ethical issues and responsibilities
  • Understanding the context of primary care and the needs of individuals with mental health problems

ResponsibilitiesEssential criteria
  • Responsibility for assessing level of need and risk
  • Responsibility for autonomously delivering a range of clinical interventions, and providing support, advice and information

KMPT is committed to supporting all new staff and this includes a comprehensive Induction programme. The duration of the programme is dependent on role and can be from 2 days to 4 weeks (not always consecutive days).
The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT's subject specialists and will include the essential training required.
The programme may involve some travel to the various training venues across Kent and Medway, the main ones being Canterbury, Maidstone and Dartford.

Probation Period. New employees external to Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust are subject to a six month probationary period.
