Outstanding opportunity for a forward-thinking, innovative and motivated Ward Manager to join one of the UK’s leading private healthcare organisations.

This challenging, exciting role will encompass management of a well-established 41 bed hospital, with 2 fully equipped theatres and an Outpatients unit which is suitable for minor operations.

Reporting directly to Matron, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to developing inpatient services to the benefit of patient care and business performance. A commitment to the development of high quality evidence based medical and surgical care is essential.

Your duties will include: -
• Day to day managerial responsibility for the Ward Nursing Team, providing a high standard of clinical care to surgical and medical inpatients and leading specialist clinical teams
• Maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders ie Patients, Consultants, Staff and Suppliers
• Ensuring departmental Key Performance Indicator targets are achieved
• Providing effective monitoring and management of resources needed to sustain agreed activity levels
• Providing effective monitoring and management of the clinical records and pre-assessment services
• Supporting Matron in the project management of the introduction of new clinical services
The successful candidate will also act as Deputy to the Matron in her absence and be expected to attend internal and external Meetings on behalf of the hospital, as delegated by Matron. You will also take part in the Senior Clinical On Call Rota and be expected to undertake clinical duties on the ward as and when required according to rota needs, covering all shift patterns.
The ideal candidate will have: -
• A strong clinical NHS background in an acute surgical / medical care environment
• Experience of leading a specialist clinical team, eg medical patients, orthopaedics etc
• Demonstrable people management skills and experience
• Experience in the management of rotas, budgets, clinical audit and root cause analysis
• A comprehensive understanding of relevant professional care / practice standards
• Excellent communication skills
• Effective presentation and IT (Microsoft office) skills
• A good standard of general education including relevant clinical qualifications.
• ILS, ALERT, ENB 998 or equivalent and a Diploma/Degree in a health related subject are essential.
• A post registration qualification in a management or business related subject (or equivalent) would be desirable
