Theatre nurse jobs are hard and demanding, and like most nurse jobs, varied. Further, and again like most specialisms within nursing, theatre nurse jobs offer plenty of opportunities to specialise. Most theatre nurses, during the course of their career, move from one specialism within theatre nursing to another: for instance, from paediatric surgery to cardiac surgery to orthopaedic surgery.
Theatre practitioner jobs
On Nurses.co.uk you’ll often see theatre practitioner jobs advertised. It’s a term that’s frequently used to mean more than on job role. Nurse practitioner jobs strictly refer to a nurse who is more highly qualified or experienced than a staff nurse, usually having completed a masters degree in nursing. Making autonomous decisions as an operating theatre nurse gives theatre practitioner jobs an increased responsibility in theatres.

ODP jobs

They aren’t nursing jobs (in terms of being jobs for registered nurses, or qualified nurses). They are qualified allied health professionals and work alongside nurses and surgeons in theatre. Sometimes nursing jobs are posted to this category and vice versa but we do our best to organise them separately!
