About Research Nurse Jobs

Research nurse jobs are offered to registered clinical nurses who are challenged by working in the field of research to involve work in clinical trials of medications. Large research centers and pharmaceutical industries seek such nurses who can assist in a range of medical research projects which require nursing experience and/or training.

To apply for great opportunities that research nurse jobs offer, research nurses must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). If the applicant has at least 2 years or more experience researching within a hospital or other research facility, this is often a plus in being considered a possible candidate for research nurse jobs. Other noted achievements for research nursing applicants are—

  • Good communication, organization and patient interaction skills
  • Experience in administering venipuncture and vaccinations

Duties of the research nurse involve collecting and recording precise data in an organized, accurate and efficient manner. The research nurse is also expected to smoothly and professionally recruit and interact with volunteers in clinical trials. It is also the responsibility of the research nurse to care for volunteer patients and use GCP, or Good Clinical Practice continually.

It is essential that the research nurse develops a positive relationship with the practitioners and staff involved in the research program; adhering to strict health, safety and security measures are of particular importance in this role.
