About unit manager jobs
As the head of a section or unit within a nursing/care home, a Unit Manager takes 24 hour responsibility for the activities within that unit. You will be a Senior RGN, RMN or RNLD depending on the type of residents in the unit, with extensive experience and a strong passion for caring for residents in that applicable field.
Unit manager jobs require you to take the clinical lead for a team of nurses (RGNs, RMNs or RNLDs plus Nursing Assistants/Auxiliaries), carers and administrative personnel. You will ensure: correct and individual, resident based care planning and recording; outstanding care service delivery in the implementation of the plans; accurate record keeping; appropriate medication control; a safe and secure environment for the residents; compliance with CQC and all other related laws and regulations.
Together with responsibility for the clinical aspect of the unit, Unit Manager Jobs also entail managing the finances of the unit: ensuring effective stock control; adherence to budgets; building strong relationships with referring clinicians and other professionals; adopting an efficient marketing plan to explore and develop new business avenues for the unit.
Applicants for Unit Manager Jobs will have:
The appropriate professional qualifications and active registration with the regulating body
Extensive experience in the related caring field (for example: mental health, dementia, frail care, etc.)
Sound history of successful supervision and management of staff
A dynamic, ‘hands-on’ approach
Be of good character with a sense of humour and an enthusiasm to help people attain the highest quality of life possible and fulfill their potential
