Our client is a growing organisation that specialises in the provision of specialist care to patients in their own home and in clinic environments. A position has arisen for an Oncology Nurse Specialist to support the Lead oncology Nurse Specialist.
You will be responsible for providing a first class clinical service to patients receiving specialist nursing services in Oncology, in the Newcastle Upon Tyne region.
Working closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team this position will ensure that the services provided by the team are of the highest standards of care.
We will consider either part time or full time hours for this position.
Key requirements:
All patient care and administration of oncology therapy is provided to first class clinical and ethical standards and demonstrates best practice.
To provide education for patients/carers as required
To develop strong working relationships.
To manage the interface between hospital services and other agencies
Able to travel within an agreed area / distance
To report to and work closely with your manager providing all appropriate communication in a timely manner
Through excellent time management skills provide a flexible service that meets client needs
Essential skills.
Excellent IV cannulation skills
Experience in Chemotherapy administration, especially in IV Cytotoxic Therapy
Excellent communication skills
Excellent time management /Organisational skills
Strong positive outlook and a desire to take ownership of problems as they arise.
IT competency in Microsoft office and email preferred
A team player who derives reward from the success of the total team
