About Occupational Health Nurse Jobs

Occupational health nurse jobs are filled by registered nurses. These nurses are considered public health leaders in the field of the workplace, looking after the welfare of people in the workplace. They are found in such settings as educational, health, industry and commercial and may work independently or with a group of other occupational health members of a personnel department.

The occupational health nurse has a basic running knowledge of promoting health, safety and first aid issues. Occupational health nurse jobs may require employees to continually educate themselves in ongoing developments of important health issues and their role.

Training and experience of occupational health nurses involves working in roles that will familiarize them with managing sickness, chronic conditions, emergency and accident situations, as well as how to understand important legislation that deals with health issues. Experience with the RCN in safety management, as well as assessing risks in local initiatives are valuable additions to applicants for occupational health nurse jobs.
