North Yorkshire, UK
Department of Health Sciences

Voted second University for Nursing in the 2010 University Rankings in The Independent and ranked joint top University for Health Services Research and fourth for Nursing and Midwifery in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise.

Students in Health Sciences at York benefit from studying in an environment where findings from a world class health research programme are rapidly integrated into our education and research courses.

We are a large multidisciplinary department, offering a broad range of taught and research programmes in the health and social care field. We work closely with colleagues within the Yorkshire and the Humber Strategic Health Authority area to ensure that our nursing, midwifery and inter-professional education meets the strategic needs of developing services. Many students are health and social care professionals and managers studying part-time on continuing development programmes, funded under contracts with the NHS or independent care sector.
