Manchester, UK
School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work

The first nursing degree in England was developed here in Manchester by the former School of Nursing Studies. The school merged with Manchester College of Midwifery and Nursing in 1996 to create the current School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work.

Throughout their study students have access to learning resources including libraries, information services, information technology and clinical skills laboratories. Support is also given through a system of personal tutoring.

Relationships with clinical colleagues are invaluable as they are involved in purchasing and monitoring programmes, delivery of clinical elements of programmes, and in the recruitment of the School's students to posts in health care. Some School staff hold joint appointments with local National Health Service Trusts.
