Nurses – regional and rural roles
We have Registered Nurse (RN), Clinical Nurse (CN) and Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) roles through to Nurse Practitioner and Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) level opportunities with our Hospital and Health Services. These positions are located in:
- Central Queensland
- Torres and Cape
- Darling Downs
- North West
- Wide Bay
There are so many advantages to living and working in regional Queensland. You will make genuine connections with your local community and you and your family can create an active, different lifestyle at a gentler pace.
The positions available are located in a mix of large hospitals based in regional centres, smaller regional facilities and primary health care centres for the following nursing specialties:
- rural generalists
- primary health care
- mental health
- general medical, surgical or sub-acute.
This experience will be potentially a different one for you. It will of course have its ups and downs, however feedback from nurses who work in our rural and regional services say it is highly rewarding and an excellent way to develop your career.
We can offer you:
- top remuneration packages matched to your experience
- supportive workplaces to build your career
- free onsite parking at most workplaces
- remote area nursing incentive packages for eligible roles
- generous leave loading and shift work penalty rates
- up to 12.75 per cent employer superannuation contribution.
We are looking for nurses who are confident in their abilities across the scope of their specialty and as a result will likely have at least five years’ experience.
For our rural primary health care roles, holding RIPRN, ALS or PALS certification would be advantageous.
In some of our more remote communities, like Thursday Island, experience caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, whilst not mandatory would be an advantage.
If you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident, you will need to apply for a visa to work in Queensland. Under our visa system, Queensland Health may sponsor nurses with at least 5 years’ experience to live and work with their families temporarily in Queensland for up to 4 years. This allows your spouse or partner to work unlimited hours in the profession of their choice.
Apply now to join the Queensland Health regional and rural nursing talent community.
It will only take you a couple of minutes to join and we will connect you to opportunities in our regional nursing services.
If a rural or regional move is not for you, then why not consider a role with one of our Hospital and Health Services based in Brisbane or the Gold or Sunshine Coasts. Search for roles here.
We look forward to hearing from you.
