ESP - Extended Scope Practitioner
Full time - Permanent
Compass Associates are proud to be working exclusively with a valued client to recruit for an ESP - Extended Scope Practitioner for their brand new hospital in the Harley Street Medical Area - Central London. The successful candidate will need to have previous experience of at least 5 years in the management of spinal and orthopaedic patients, have additional spinal training with in-depth knowledge of the MSK system alongside sound clinical assessment and reasoning skills. My client desires someone who can treat complex patients autonomously in a total spine care environment.
This private organisation have been family run for over 30 years, with 18 hospitals in Germany and now we welcome them to the UK! With them, they bring a new and exciting model of salaried and permanently employed consultants, who are fully invested and KPI driven. They specialise in Spinal and Orthopaedics with a Mental Health Hospital in the Birmingham area. The hospital is due to open their doors in Spring 2018 and we are focusing on recruiting their entire team.
Patients visiting this total spine centre will likely come from a PMI commissioning or self pay background. In this position, you will be the first person a patient meets when entering the service. You will be expected to triage including the completion of questionnaires, physical exams and ordering imaging. A treatment plan will then be decided for the patient where you will then be involved alongside a multidisciplinary team in directing the patient care. This will include working with the inpatient team and various surgeons.
In addition to this, my client would also be looking for someone capable of setting up and running a Functional Restoration Programme. This will coincide with educating the existing Physio's, Pharmacists and GP's in detail on Chronic Back Pain.
The suitable applicant will need to clearly evidence 5 years of specialist experience particularly within the fields of Spinal Orthopaedic care. The candidate should have completed an advanced programme of studies involving additional spinal training with an in-depth knowledge of the MSK system. You should have a good knowledge of general clinical medicine and locally commissioned back pain pathway as well as national back pain guidelines. You will be autonomous in the management of complex patients and should be able to motivate, negotiate and persuade to encourage patients to maximise rehabilitation potential.
