HMP Hewell is situated in Redditch and is a split site prison separated by approximately half a mile. The larger part is category B, holding up to 1,104 remand, sentenced and vulnerable prisoners and also has the potential to hold category A prisoners. The smaller part (The Grange) is a category D open site holding up to 204 prisoners. There is an 18 bedded inpatient unit and a dispensing pharmacy on site (both on the Cat B site). To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP Hewell, we are looking for a motivated and driven individual to come and join our team, supporting the Head of Healthcare, in the position of Deputy Head of Healthcare.
About the job
As the Deputy Head of Healthcare you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operational management of all clinical services across the prison. You will manage service level agreements, ensuring performance-monitoring standards are adhered to and the highest standards of care are maintained. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with the essential standards of quality and safety. As the Deputy Head of Healthcare, you will also deputise for the Head of Healthcare in their absence and support them across the range of their duties.
You will be an experienced clinical and/or operational manager that can provide evidence of your leadership ability and management training. You will be an engaging and motivated individual who can adapt to a wide variety of challenges and can work under pressure. Experience of working in a secure environment would be desirable but not essential. Further job information This is a full-time, permanent position. The salary is to be discussed at interview.
Interviews will be held on the 27th of September. This is a full-time vacancy, working 37.5 hour per week. We welcome informal visits to the prison but these must be booked in advance.
