An opportunity has arisen for a specialist paediatric nurse to join the health team within Bedelsford special school in Kingston.
This is an exciting time to join the Integrated Service for Children with Disabilities, providing services in Kingston upon Thames. Achieving for Children (AfC) was launched on April 1, 2014 and is jointly owned by Kingston and Richmond councils to provide children’s services within the two boroughs. This is a first nationally, putting AfC at the forefront of service re-design. Within AfC our aim is to achieve excellence in everything we do by putting children and young people first in the design, delivery and evaluation of every service we provide, to ensure they are supported to live safe, happy, healthy and successful.
The Community Children’s Nursing Service forms part of the health funded provision, with the therapy team, paediatricians and clinical psychologists within the Integrated Disabled Children’s Service, based at the Moor Lane Centre in Chessington. The health teams work alongside social care colleagues, family support workers, participation and short breaks providers in offering to services from a co-located specialist centre. There are excellent joint working practices in place.
The Service is provided for children with a range of physical, and developmental disabilities or significant delays, and additional medical/health needs. The service is delivered in special schools and in the community. This post is based at Bedelsford School, working alongside a senior nurse and a healthcare assistant to support children with complex health needs including; care planning, medicines management, training school staff, supporting complex health conditions and dealing with health emergencies which arise.
We are looking for a dynamic Nurse with excellent communication skills and specific qualifications in children’s nursing to join the team at Bedelsford, working as part of the wider integrated service for children with a disability.
The nursing team is a supportive, dynamic and innovative team and there are good opportunities for CPD, joint learning and for clinical supervision.
