Disability Assessor - NI
Belfast, Antrim, Northern Ireland
Disability Assessors - Wales, Central England and Northern Ireland
Permanent Role salary: £34K plus 23 days holiday + BH's, contributory pension scheme, laptop, mobile and flexible benefits (travel expenses paid)
About the Role
Undertaking a PIP assessment is similar to a functional assessment and you will be assessing how disabilities or impairments have an impact on activities of daily living and mobility. You will assess individuals who are making a claim for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and provide an opportunity for the claimant to tell their story. Using your clinical experience, excellent questioning technique and applying your objectivity and reasoning skills you will be able to write a report following the assessment process that will enable a decision to be made. Because the role is community based, most PIP claimants will have a detailed, face-to-face assessment with an experienced Healthcare Professional. This is where Capita Health and wellbeing - and you - come in.
What's in it for you?
Are you a qualified health care professional, Occupational Therapist, Nurse, Doctor, Paramedic or Physiotherapist with 2 years post registration experience?
Assessments are conducted between 8am and 8pm, Monday to Saturday (a typical day though is 9-5.30). Contracts are available for full time positions on a permanent basis. Covering the business requirements to meet claimant needs is of paramount importance, so undertaking field based appointments as well as working within one of our clinics will form part of the role. You will need a car and a full clean driving licence.
Employed by Capita Health and Wellbeing you will undertake a training programme that will build on your professional skills and equip you with the new skills essential for the role. Using your Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Physiotherapy or Paramedic experience, you will take into account all the information presented by the claimant, including any supporting evidence and then you will carry out an assessment in the claimant's home or one of our consultation suites.
Our initial training and assessment programme and Capita's commitment to your development will ensure you have the skills to do the job. This training programme is detailed and requires a very pro-active and organised approach to its completion to ensure your success. Becoming a Disability Assessor is also a great way to extend your professional experience, broaden your field of expertise and develop your career.
Who we're looking for
This is really important... you must have at least two year's post-registration experience. You must be an Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Nurse, Paramedic or Doctor with a licence to practise and no sanctions; you'll also have a clear understanding of the clinical aspects, and likely functional effects, of a wide-range of health conditions and disabilities.
When it comes to writing the report itself, strong observation and communication skills will be essential, a capability to use a laptop and various IT systems also.
