Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner (ODP/RGN)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scrub Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary theatre team at Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre in Chesterfield. Treating only NHS patients, we offer orthopaedic care for people in the South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire areas. We offer a wide range of treatments, from minor hand and foot procedures that can be carried out as day cases, to more complex treatments that require a longer stay with us, including hip, knee and shoulder replacements. •NMC Registered Nurse Part 1 •Relevant theatre experience as a scrub practitioner.
As an Senior Theatre Practitioner you will; •Manage the Theatre Unit to meet the requirements of quality patient care, ensuring that all peri-operative nursing care activities carried out comply with relevant legislation and company policies and procedures. •Manage nursing staff to ensure adequate and cost effective staffing. Maintaining excellent working relationships with other departments. •Manage the unit throughout to ensure productivity levels are achieved, with procedure schedules managed efficiently. •Manage resources including control and maintenance of equipment, request of capex, asset verification, and stock control in co-operation with pharmacy and theatre stock controller, control of staff costs. •To be responsible for maintaining accurate, timely and complete records, ensuring the safety and confidentiality of information. •Ensure that the cleanliness and hygiene of the unit is maintained, adhering to Infection Control policies and procedures, Health and Safety policies and procedures. •To ensure that equipment is handled correctly and maintained in a safe working order, reporting and defects to the Theatre Manager. •To ensure all accidents and incidents are reported in the correct manner and participate in investigation as required. •To participate in late working, weekends and on call duties if and when required in order to provide continuity out of hours.To be successful in this role you will have: •Evidence of competence as a scrub practitioner •Effective management of all resources especially financial and human. •Knowledge of current research, key issues and development in theatre practice. •Knowledge of PHG’s aim, objectives, policies, principles, procedures and standards in respect of personnel issues and patient care. •Knowledge of Health & Safety/Risk Management within the operating department. •Demonstrates knowledge of change management. •Organisational and management skills within a team.
