If you’re passionate about nursing and you want to grow your career in a leadership role, now’s the time to apply
About this senior staff nurse role
This role is about leading by example and being an ambassador for the way of caring. It’s about recognising talent, nurturing junior staff, and mentoring them to be the best nurses they can be, using clinical skills and an empathetic approach to meet each individual patient’s need.
Reporting to the Ward Manager you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team. You’ll get to work with some of the best clinical talent around and experience with new practices, equipment and facilities, all of which are maintained to our high standards –
Your key accountabilities will be to provide day-to-day supervision, including clinical supervision of junior nursing staff and students of the department, with responsibilities including all or most of the following:
Involvement in recruitment, induction, performance review, attendance management, disciplinary and grievance matters
Competency assessment, training, development and the mentoring of staff
Ensure work is carried out efficiently and to agreed working practice and protocols
Following a multi-million pound refurbishment, our hospital now has 4 state-of-the-art operating theatres, 50 bedrooms and a generous outpatient suite. Our team is passionate, caring, independent and enterprising. As a work environment, our hospital is friendly and welcoming, with an accessible and approachable management team.
We’re located in a beautiful Hampshire town with excellent road and public transport links.
Nursing qualifications, skills and values
As a nurse or practitioner registered with the appropriate governing body, you’ll have the qualifications required for registration.
A qualification in teaching and assessment is preferred, as is a professional management qualification, such as NVQ level 2 or 3.
Immediate Life Support is preferred and Advanced Life Support is desirable.
You’ll have experience of multispeciality surgical procedures, plus further professional training, experience and, preferably, a qualification in a specialist area. You’ll also have excellent clinical skills and experience of being in a mentoring role.
