We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Substance Misuse Clinical Lead to join the Care UK team at HMP Pentonville in N7, London.
About the Job
As the Substance Misuse Clinical Lead, you will take on the role of providing a successful and effective delivery of substance misuse clinical services within HMP Pentonville. You can expect to be involved with managing patient pathways, ensuring the team of nurses are focused on improving client outcomes by developing team psycho-social intervention skills including motivational interviewing, relapse management, Link Node-Mapping techniques and other CBT approaches. You will provide specialist nursing advice on substance misuse, dual diagnosis and related issues to a range of health and non-health professionals related to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the plan of care for patients referred to this specialist service. This includes advice on treatment options including detoxification, substitute maintenance prescribing, symptomatic management, the management of alcohol withdrawals and detoxification, advice on medication titration, dispensing of medication including controlled drugs, and managing all aspects of clinical safety e.g. potential overdose, pertinent to a high risk environment.
We're looking for a Clinical Lead with an Independant Nurse Prescriber qualification. You will have completed the RCGP Certificate in the Management of Drug Misuse Part 2 and have evidence of continuous professional development alongside autonomous practice. It goes without saying that you will have experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and be commited to quality care.HMP Pentonville is a Cat B/Local Men's Prison situated in N7, London. There is a large purpose built healthcare centre which has 22 inpatient beds, a day care facility for patients with mental health problems that are managed on the wings. There are also a number of consulting rooms both within the main prison and in the Healthcare Centre. On each of the wings there is a primary care facility incorporating a GP's clinic and area for dispensing of medication. These also include; Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Podiatry & Physiotherapy. Care UK is the Health in Justice market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care. We’ll utilise the wellbeing model to put patient care and safety at the heart of everything we do through assessing prisoners across 5 domains of; physical and mental wellbeing, substance misuse, relationships and resettlement. The patient and clinician complete a wellbeing wheel assessment to set goals and outcomes in partnership. The patient will complete the assessment and any needs identified will be met by our fully integrated service delivery team. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.
