Bank Staff Nurse (on)
London, Greater London, England
Break into prison healthcare!
Nursing in prison is never dull or predictable. On any given day the skills you use may be similar to those you need working in health promotion or A&E, alternatively you may be supporting people to manage their mental health or substance misuse. It’s this variety that keeps things fresh and stimulating. Every day will bring new challenges and new experiences. But at the same time, you’ll have all the support you need to deliver the best care possible. At Care UK, our belief in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history, combined with our insistence on quality healthcare has proved to be hugely successful. As a Registered General Nurse, you'll work as part of a team of Primary Care Nurses within HMP Pentonville, a Cat B Men's Prison situated in N7, London. There is a large purpose built healthcare centre which has 22 inpatient beds, a day care facility for patients with mental health problems that are managed on the wings. There are also a number of consulting rooms both within the main prison and in the Healthcare Centre. On each of the wings there is a primary care facility incorporating a GP's clinic and area for dispensing of medication. These also include; Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Podiatry & Physiotherapy.
An RGN 1 with NMC registration, you’ll bring a good knowledge of clinical governance and experience of carrying out clinical audits. We’ll want to see evidence of your continued professional development, and a real passion for taking your skills even further. It goes without saying that you’ll have a solid understanding of health and safety, along with exemplary record keeping skills. Self-motivated and able to work autonomously, you’ll show plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations. We’re looking for an excellent communicator – someone who can guide and influence others to take the right course of action. Beyond that, you should have a flexible approach and the ability to achieve changing priorities by managing your own time. The sheer breadth of what we do makes this an exciting and dynamic environment in which to stretch your skills. The training we offer here is second-to-none and we’ll support your professional development both in terms of time, and financial support. These roles offer great front-line exposure, including triage work, and we’ll also give you a real say in how things are done. Your ideas and opinions will matter. This is a bank role working shifts as and when required. Salary - £16.06 per hour. Please note that offers of employment are subject to Care UK Terms & Conditions and receipt of satisfactory references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting. At Care UK, we actively promote diversity and equal opportunities.
