The cardiac ward is made up of 15 private rooms with a 5-bedded CCU. The patients using the service are cardiac medical, intervention and surgical and thoracic medical and surgical.
As the Staff Nurse-Cardiac, this exciting role will enable the individual to develop their clinical skills in the area of Cardiothoracic surgery. You will follow patients through the whole care process.
Your role as Staff Nurse-Cardiac will be hands on and you will care for patients with a variety of clinical needs. They will be undergoing various cardiac related procedures including diagnostic and interventional procedures as well as major cardiac surgeries.
You will undertake extended roles such as venepuncture and cannulation, drain management and PCA management.
The Staff Nurse-Cardiac will need knowledge of I.V. drug management, ECG rhythm recognition and femoral/radial sheath management.
About the Individual:
To be successful in your application to the role of Staff Nurse-Cardiac you must be a Registered Nurse with the NMC with experience in the field of Cardiothoracic Surgery.
A post registration qualification in Cardiology is desirable as well as mentorship and leadership skills.
