A & E Nurse Specialist Job, Swindon, Wiltshire


Location: Swindon - Wiltshire
Rate: £ 18.30 to £ 29.29 - per hour Day and Sunday. Nights/Sat 23.79
Job Status: Temporary

Accident and Emergency Nurse – A & E Unit

You will need 2 years plus, post registration experience in Accident and Emergency and Emergency/Minor Injuries Unit (MIU; you will need current evidence of practice within the last 6 months.

You will need:

- NMC registration
- RN (Adult)/RN1, RN2 and for areas that are within a child assignment RN(Child) RN8

And

- ENB 199 or equivalent post registration course in accident and emergency nursing
- Intermediate life support

Desirable:
- Advanced Life Support and a Teaching and Assessing Qualification

Skills and abilities:

- Must be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist nursing care programmes
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate within the interdisciplinary team and across other disciplines
- Skills for assessing and interpreting specialist acute and other patient conditions and taking appropriate action
- Able to advise patients, relatives
- Able to take charge of a team or manage a ward/department in the absence of the ward manager
- Maintains clear and accurate records of assessments made, nursing care and treatment delivered and how effective these have been
- Must have competent and effective clinical nursing skills including:

• Ability to record a 12 lead ECG
• IV Cannulation, IV Additives and administration of IV medicines
• Able to demonstrate safe use of patient equipment including infusion devices
• Ability to deliver the full range of care to a ventilated patient under indirect supervision
• Triage, phlebotomy

All agency workers are to have received appropriate training and assessment at the Authority where the assignment is taking place before being authorised to carry out any of the above tasks out
